The draft survey is the one by noting down the quantum of immersion of the ship through reading  the draft marks on both sides of  the ship  at forward, mid point and at the rear side. Then applying density of water the ship is floating in and other factors, we calculate &  determine the quantity of cargo (goods) in the ship. If the weight distribution on the ship  is not even, each would be read differently. We always address the ship as the vessel and it is ‘she’ as she is always painted to keep her elegant.
