Captain. Gadadhar Mantri

Joined T.S. Rajendra in 1977 as  Cadet and had worked on board Bulk Carrier, passenger vessel, container vessel, crude oil tanker, petroleum product tanker, chemical tanker & general cargo vessels as junior & senior officers in Indian & foreign shipping companies till 1999. He got the CERTIFICATE OF COMPETENCY as Foreign Going Master in 1987. He had also worked as a Port Captain for planning & supervising Steel cargo loading in Indian & foreign ports till 2000. Since the year 2000, he is working as principal surveyor in the ports of Paradip, Dhamra & Gopalpur.

Stories From the Captains Desk : Two of his most noteworthy achievement being as owners' P&I Surveyor, he guided, supervised & safely made 2 vessels, m.v. Spring Hummer & m.v. Vinalines Mighty sail out from Paradip, who loaded chrome concentrates & iron ore fines at Paradip without supervision of any surveyor and returned to port in unstable condition developing angle of lull just after departure due to liquefaction of cargo because of excess moisture content.

Captain. K. Engineer

Engineer holds the experience of commanding Vessels like Bulk Carrier, General cargo, Multi Purpose vessels, Containers, Ro-Ro
He has also served as Port Captain for loading steel from 1999-2002 and is presently serving as Principal Surveyor from 2003 till date (2019).

Stories From the Captains Desk : A vessel at Haldia Port fully loaded and with all ballast tanks empty touched bottom and grounded at berth. On advice the Master ballasted her double bottom tanks on the offshore side for which she developed a list of 2o to 3o. On doing so when the vessel listed about 3o, she gradually refloated and was then smoothly shifted out of the berth to another suitable berth by the Port.

Captain. Sanjay Sen

South India Shipping Corpn. from 1980 till 1989 in various ascending capacities becoming a Chief Officer in 1987. Joined A. P. Moller (Maersk) as a Chief Officer in 1990 where he got Command in 1996. Sailed as a Master with Barber Ship Management till January 2006. Worked with UN World Food Programme in Indonesia, as a Consultant in 2006. Worked as a Training Officer in A. P. Moller and involved with devising training programmes for international cadets, during 1999-2000.

Port Captain with M/s. Tata Steel Limited from 2017 – 2018. Principal Surveyor with M/s. Azimuth Ship & Marine Surveyors from February, 2018. Having, Extensive Experience in various fields of survey.

Stories From the Captains Desk :  A vessel loaded with Indonesian Steam Coal had arrived at Sandheads where self heating of cargo was suspected in hold no.5. The Methane, CO levels were above safe limits and hold temperature was measured at 42o C and rising. As owner’s P&I surveyors we advised the Master on the precautions to be taken prior arrival. Subsequent to berthing at Haldia, the hatch cover of hold No. 5 was hosed down with dock water (fresh water). After ensuring all stevedores and other personnel not required in the vicinity of hold No. 5, were asked to stay at a safe distance. The crew commenced un-battening and opening of hatch cover No. 5 wearing SCBA apparatus under our strict supervision. Hoses were rigged on deck and Fire Fighting equipment was kept standby at all times. The vessel completed her discharge safely and no claims were received from the receivers.
